The Staff Development Educator acts as catalyst for change and interacts with the unit/department, division, and ancillary departments. Ability to anticipate needs and guide the educational programs for nursing.The incumbent regularly interacts with all levels of licensed and non-licensed personnel. Ability to function independently, demonstrate higher level problem solving and decision-making skills due to the varied and complex issues encountered by the incumbent.Ability to provide leadership in clinical education, clinical research, and patient education while functioning within the scope of the Hospital’s policies and procedures. Possess and demonstrate a high level of computer skills and be able to teach and support the instruction of the organization’s electronic medical record and other clinical computer systems.Demonstrated teaching, coordination, and communication skills.Knowledge and experience in organizing and conducting formal adult education programs.Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.Functions as a resource/consultant for new employees, students, clinical departments, educators, and leaders.Assesses areas of personal and professional growth for team members and assists in staff performance evaluations.Troubleshoots and resolves customer concerns. It also successfully performs duties of the Staff Development Educator in delivering training and education and representing simulation perspectives on interdepartmental meetings. It assists and acts on behalf of the manager in planning, directing, coordinating, and evaluating intra- and inter-departmental simulation activities. This position is responsible for promoting excellence in patient care by advancing quality and scope of practice through simulation education.
